About the role
- Strategic buyer responsible for purchasing and supplier management in the steel sector at BITO. Focused on cost-effective procurement and market analysis while promoting innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Independent and continuous procurement market analysis and supplier search
- Economic and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analyses; development and implementation of the global purchasing and supplier strategy for the commodity steel (raw material)
- Responsible for building and expanding an international steel supplier pool
- Conducting targeted, efficient and successful price negotiations regarding quantities, prices, delivery dates, delivery terms, cost allocation and guarantees
- Preparation of raw material reports; consolidation of similar material requirements based on planning data to optimize purchasing conditions
- Driving the standardization of materials and processes; developing and optimizing processes within the commodity groups
- Developing and expanding the international steel procurement strategy in close cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Securing contractual prerequisites and concluding purchasing contracts (e.g., framework agreements)
Requirements
- Completed technician training with solid commercial knowledge; a completed technical degree is desirable
- Several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the steel industry working for a steel trader in procurement or sales of steel (raw material)
- Strong network in the steel industry across Europe and Asia
- Resilience, self-motivation and ability to organize your own work
- Strong negotiation skills, reliable, team-oriented and goal-driven
- Independent, conceptual and structured working style is a matter of course for you
- Business-fluent English, both written and spoken; additional foreign language skills desirable
