About the role
- Strategic Buyer specializing in steel products at BITO-Lagertechnik. Responsible for global sourcing strategies and supplier management to ensure cost-effective material supply.
Responsibilities
- Independently and continuously conduct procurement market analyses and identify potential suppliers
- Perform profitability and TCO analyses; develop and implement the global purchasing and supplier strategy for the steel commodity (raw material)
- Build and expand an international pool of steel suppliers
- Lead targeted, efficient and successful price negotiations covering volumes, prices, delivery dates, delivery terms, cost allocation and guarantees
- Prepare raw material reports and consolidate similar material requirements based on planning data to optimize purchasing conditions
- Drive standardization of materials and processes; develop and optimize processes within the commodity group
- Develop and extend the international steel procurement strategy in close cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Ensure contractual prerequisites and conclude purchasing contracts (framework agreements, etc.)
Requirements
- Completed technician qualification with solid commercial knowledge; a completed technical degree is desirable
- Many years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the steel sector or at a steel trader in purchasing or sales of steel (raw material)
- Established network within the steel industry across Europe and Asia
- Resilience, self-motivation and strong self-organization skills
- Strong negotiating skills; reliable, team-oriented and goal-driven
- Independent, conceptual and structured way of working
- Business-fluent English, both written and spoken; additional foreign language skills are a plus
