About the role
- Expert Legal Consultant providing strategic solutions for Beneva's insurance operations. Collaborating with internal teams to address complex legal issues and contribute to risk management.
Responsibilities
- Act as a legal expert advisor and business partner to internal life and savings insurance teams to identify and analyze legal risks in complex and/or strategic matters
- Provide strategic legal opinions for Beneva and its subsidiaries on complex legal issues related to their operations and strategic objectives
- Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts related to life insurance and financial products and services
- Negotiate, draft, and review large-scale, complex, and strategic agreements for Beneva
- Represent Beneva at various industry forums
- Contribute to legislative and regulatory monitoring to analyze the potential impacts of legislative changes on Beneva's activities
- Provide expert advice and act as a mentor to legal technicians in the management of complex files
Requirements
- Law degree (LL.B./J.D.) and member of the Barreau du Québec
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in insurance law
- Deep expertise in insurance law (primarily life insurance) and distribution of financial products and services, or any other combination of experience deemed relevant
- Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) and terrorist financing regulations and/or segregated funds is an asset
- Excellent ability to simplify complex legal issues, explain their impact on business operations, and formulate clear, structured recommendations
- Proficiency in French, both spoken and written, and advanced proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
