About the role

  • Director of Corporate Finance managing BDC’s Corporate Financing portfolio. Sourcing and recommending transactions for large clients while delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the growth of BDC Corporate Financing portfolio by sourcing, developing, and recommending high-quality transactions
  • Acts as a “trusted advisor” to entrepreneurs, while delivering outstanding customer service
  • Identifies business sectors with significant growth potential and structures opportunities for entrepreneurs
  • Develops and manages account and influencer relationships, to grow BDC Corporate Financing assets
  • Navigates a matrix organization and manages senior stakeholder relationships
  • Proactively identifies and develops new business opportunities for Corporate Financing and Advisory
  • Develops and implements customer relationship retention/growth strategy
  • Conducts proper investigation and due diligence activities on all proposals
  • Pre-qualifies, structures and presents proposals in accordance with BDC policies and procedures
  • Plans and conducts activities that promote BDC financial and advisory services

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of relevant senior commercial banking experience including strong credit acumen
  • Bachelor's in commerce or finance or business administration with a major in accounting or finance
  • Post-Graduate degree in Business and/or CFA designation and/or relevant professional designation, an asset
  • Demonstrated strength in business development and client relationship skills
  • Analytical business sense and strategic thinking
  • Ability to sell financial services to demanding and sophisticated clients
  • Ability to identify business opportunities for entrepreneurs who will benefit from the unique range of BDC services
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, be highly organized and proactive
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, spoken and written, in English. French is an asset
  • A driver's license as well as access to a vehicle are required
