About the role

  • Commissioning Engineer – Electrical ensuring safe operation of electrical systems at Babcock. Contributing to national defence capability through electrical systems commissioning and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering commissioning activities across electrical systems to ensure they meet operational, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Producing, reviewing and managing commissioning documentation and test procedures.
  • Collaborating closely with design, quality, engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Conducting inspections, tests and evaluations to verify system readiness.
  • Supporting safety, quality and assurance processes throughout all commissioning stages.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering commissioning, testing or verification of electrical systems within engineering, marine, defence, nuclear or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including fault diagnosis and system testing.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and safety documentation.
  • Experience working to regulated or high‑integrity engineering standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apprenticeship or equivalent training in an electrical discipline - Essential.
  • A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent) - Desirable.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
