About the role

  • HSE Manager responsible for health, safety, and environmental compliance in mineral sector projects. Collaborating with clients and leading HSE initiatives throughout project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Actively collaborate with clients to align HSE expectations, requirements, and best practices on projects
  • Support tendering and proposal processes, including the development of HSE strategies, plans, and content for client proposals
  • Lead and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HSE procedures, programs, standards, and manuals
  • Support the execution of EPCM projects, including planning, implementation, and oversight of HSE activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies, as well as early project phases, by ensuring the identification and management of HSE risks from the outset of the project lifecycle
  • Contribute to design safety activities and risk‑based design reviews, including the identification and reduction of health, safety, and environmental risks during engineering and design phases
  • Provide HSE advice, coaching, and mentoring to managers and teams to strengthen the safety culture
  • Support and review project‑specific HSE plans, ensuring compliance with AtkinsRéalis standards, client requirements, and legal obligations
  • Conduct site visits to verify the implementation and effectiveness of control measures
  • Manage the HSE training program, including onboarding of new employees, coordination of internal and external training, and development of training materials
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow‑up of corrective actions
  • Provide informed guidance on the interpretation and application of health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations
  • Manage and analyze HSE statistics and performance indicators to support monitoring and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in health, safety, and environment
  • Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental studies, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of the minerals and metals sector, including applicable risks, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in EPCM environments and major projects
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and senior leadership
  • Experience supporting pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies, including design safety, risk identification, and integration of HSE requirements during early project development and engineering phases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Experience in: Development and implementation of HSE programs; Preparation of HSE content for tenders and proposals; incident investigations and workplace inspections; Internal audits and HSE training
  • In‑depth knowledge of Canadian health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations
  • Availability and willingness to travel to support project sites.
