About the role

  • Architect designing and implementing robotics software and AI/ML models at Aptiv. Collaborating across teams to enhance mobility solutions and safety systems with innovative technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robotics software stacks spanning perception, localization, planning, control, and system integration
  • Lead system-level architecture decisions across software, middleware, hardware, and cloud/edge interfaces
  • Optimize performance, latency, power, and memory utilization on CPU/GPU/NPU/DSP-based platforms
  • Contribute hands-on code in C/C++ and Python for robotics and embedded workloads
  • Integrate solutions using ROS 2, DDS middleware, real-time Linux, and RTOS environments
  • Define clean interfaces and modular designs to enable scalability across robot classes (AMRs and Drones)
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to influence sensor, compute, and system design trade-offs
  • Deploy and optimize AI/ML models on embedded and edge platforms using frameworks such as TensorRT, ONNX, OpenVINO, TFLite or comparable runtimes
  • Support model compression, quantization, and acceleration strategies for edge deployment
  • Develop and optimize edge AI pipelines for real-time inference on embedded, edge and heterogeneous compute platforms
  • Evaluate trade-offs between onboard intelligence and cloud-assisted workflows
  • Integrate simulation and testing workflows using Gazebo, Isaac, or similar environments
  • Define and execute validation strategies for autonomy performance, robustness, and safety
  • Support transition from R&D prototypes to production-ready, industrialized solutions

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or PhD) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience developing robotics or autonomous systems software
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time and embedded applications
  • Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals
  • Experience training, deploying and optimizing AI workloads on embedded and edge AI platforms
  • Familiarity with Linux-based and RTOS embedded systems and cross-compilation workflows
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in additional languages like Python and Rust
  • Experience with ROS 2, DDS middleware, and real-time systems
  • Hands-on experience with heterogeneous embedded compute and SoC platforms (e.g., NVIDIA, Qualcomm, TI, Renesas, NXP or similar)
  • Background in simulation-driven development, scenario-based testing, or digital twins
  • Track record of delivering production-grade robotics or edge AI systems
