About the role

  • Facilities Engineer managing engineering projects at Antarctic research stations, focusing on infrastructure, maintenance, and operational efficiencies. Work involves coordination with various trades and technical departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site engineering of station facilities, working in coordination with fulltime Engineering staff.
  • Conduct engineering investigations of operational issues, facilities, and equipment.
  • Perform engineering assessments and evaluations.
  • Responsible for design, budgeting, and execution of engineering projects.
  • Conduct reviews of construction projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in facilities related Engineering discipline or similar field is required.
  • Five additional years related engineering experience will be accepted in lieu of engineering degree.
  • Minimum four years of increasing responsibility in facilities engineering activities to include investigation of maintenance issues, management of change, minor construction projects, and definition of new project work and project proposals is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems, specifically HVAC.
  • Experience in construction and maintenance of commercial and/or industrial facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Minimum intermediate level computer skills with MS Office Suite experience to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Possess the competencies, willingness, and ability to perform the duties of position.
