About the role
- Senior Workers Compensation Claims Examiner managing Federal claims for AIG. Utilizing investigation and negotiation skills to ensure timely and cost-effective claim settlements.
Responsibilities
- Utilize investigation, claim handling, litigation, and negotiation skills to ensure timely cost-effective claim settlements
- Provide prompt effective customer service to differentiate AIG from competitors
- Proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims
- Regular contact with internal stakeholders and brokers, and clients’ lawyers
- Build effective relationships with internal and external customers
- Assist with monitoring market/industry practices in claims handling and provide mentoring and technical guidance to Claim Representatives
- Collaborate with colleagues in underwriting to improve products.
Requirements
- Knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for Workers Compensation claims
- Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred
- Proven experience in settlement evaluation and negotiation
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices
- Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills.
