About the role

  • Project Procurement Specialist engaged in procurement activities within capital project portfolio at AEP, ensuring effective coordination and execution of project plans.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient coordination and execution of procurement activities for assigned projects within the capital project portfolio
  • Engage with project teams to organize, support, audit, and oversee the development, monitoring, and reporting of procurement plans for materials and services
  • Direct the work activities of Project Procurement Consultants and/or Analysts
  • Effectively engage business unit leadership and Supply Chain Procurement leadership to achieve procurement objectives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project teams to strengthen partnerships, enhance service levels, and drive coordinated Supply Chain performance metrics related to planning and execution
  • Manage interactions between the Project Requisition Team and other Supply Chain Sourcing resources supporting project delivery
  • Provide guidance to project teams on standards, policies, and procedures established by AEP Corporation and applicable regulatory entities
  • Coordinate with the Project Requisition Team and Supply Chain Procurement Teams on all project-related material and service requirements
  • Represent Supply Chain in project meetings and phase/stage gate reviews related to procurement activities
  • Lead Supply Chain involvement in escalation, resolution, and development of corrective actions or recovery plans for project material issues
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop procurement matrices and plans
  • Develop and manage the Master Project Material List (BOM) for assigned projects, including estimated and actual pricing, PO/MR numbers, and expected delivery dates
  • Monitor and report on all procurement planning requirements
  • Manage and communicate quality, cost, and schedule impacts identified through Supply Chain activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Digital disciplines, or a related field from an accredited university
  • MBA, other related graduate degree, or Doctorate preferred
  • Four (4) or more years of directly relevant experience in scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and working with accounting practices is required
  • Understanding of procurement/strategic sourcing, project controls, accounts payable, work management, and financial systems applications is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage business partners, stakeholders, and suppliers
  • Ability to influence, build credibility, and foster strong working relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across complex projects
  • Skilled in negotiating terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers
  • Ability to identify procurement related risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and procurement platforms
