About the role

  • Assistant Project Manager overseeing planning and execution of construction projects at U.S. federal facilities. Leading teams to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Be a liaison with our clients, engineering partners, and field operations, ensuring seamless communication and to support our execution.
  • Lead tasks to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Support project leadership in compliance with project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support project leadership in review and analysis of project performance to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Assist in driving financial performance through accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting; ensure profitability and cash flow targets are achieved.
  • Support all phases of construction, from pre-construction planning and procurement through commissioning and closeout.
  • Support development of change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Promote Aecon’s safety culture and ensure adherence to all regulatory and environmental standards.
  • Represent Aecon at progress meetings, client reviews, and site visits, to support development of strong relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, facility management or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations/maintenance, construction, and/or project controls with a minimum of 3 years in a lead/supervisory role position.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Ability to obtain DOE/DOD/NRC clearance as necessary.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling (MS Project, P6), cost management, and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with project management platforms such as Procore, HCSS, or similar tools.
  • PMP certification or equivalent professional training is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work at project sites as required.
