About the role

  • Chassis Senior Engineer delivering high-quality costing analyses and technical insights for chassis systems in the automotive industry. Supporting product development and cost optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-complexity chassis cost benchmarks, design-to-cost (DtC) studies, and system-level analyses
  • Develop cost structures aligned with industrial process flows and costing guidelines
  • Apply and challenge bottom-up costing and DtC methodologies
  • Analyze product design, materials (steel, aluminum, substitution strategies), manufacturing processes, tooling, purchased components, and supply chain logic
  • Identify key cost drivers (materials, tooling investment, cycle time, energy, labor, logistics)
  • Ensure analytical rigor, traceability, and consistency in deliverables
  • Translate complex technical analyses into clear business insights and recommendations
  • Act as a key technical interface with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Lead technical deep-dive discussions and support design-to-cost initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across teams
  • Contribute to the development of costing standards, tools, and methodologies

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in chassis design engineering, automotive cost engineering, or purchasing
  • Strong experience with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics
  • Strong expertise in chassis systems (axles, steering, brakes) and associated technologies
  • Deep understanding of materials, structural design considerations (crashworthiness, stiffness, weight reduction, durability), and cost drivers
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling concepts
  • Strong experience with design-to-cost and cost modeling methodologies
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and identify cost optimization opportunities
  • Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in an international environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with costing tools is a plus
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus
