Responsibilities
- Lead and organize the technical operations of the ship
- Manage personnel matters within your area of responsibility
- Ensure all deadlines for class certification/renewal are met
- Ensure the operational readiness of main propulsion and auxiliary systems as well as all ship and hotel-related technical systems
- Commission, operate, and monitor ship machinery systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks
- Advise the captain on technical matters
- Prepare for drydock/shipyard periods
- Update technical documentation and maintain machinery and oil logs
- Order fuel, lubricants, and necessary spare parts
- Ensure proper disposal of waste generated by ship operations
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations within your area of responsibility
- Support the optimization of workflows and processes and further develop the Quality Management Handbook
- Perform deck watch duties when the ship is docked
Requirements
- Knowledge of ship operations and marine engineering systems
- Experience in river and/or ocean shipping
- Vocational training in engine, mechanical or metalworking trades
- Valid seafarer’s service book (seafarer’s discharge book) and current medical fitness certificate
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
