Roaming IREG Engineer managing international roaming processes and procedures for a global mobile communications provider. Responsible for technical setup, testing, and maintenance of roaming services.
Responsibilities
__****Key Responsibilities**__
Plan, execute, and document IREG tests (IR.24, IR.35, IR.50, etc.) for voice, SMS, and data services, in line with GSMA standards.
Set up and verify interconnect links for voice and messaging services with partner operators.
Monitor roaming service KPIs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with roaming agreements.
Configure and test SS7, Diameter, SIP, and related signaling protocols for international connectivity.
Liaise with foreign operators, roaming hubs, and internal teams during implementation and troubleshooting.
Maintain up-to-date test results, network configurations, and operational procedures.
Oversee the footprint management of all 1Global products, working closely with the wholesale and other networks team.
Execute IREG test cases according to GSMA guidelines and bilateral agreements.
Analyze and troubleshoot roaming issues with signaling traces and logs.
Work closely with international roaming partners to resolve interconnect problems.
Manage and update roaming documentation (IR.21)
Support new roaming launches (testing and activation of new operators, technologies, and services).
Coordinate with internal teams (Core Network, Billing, etc) during testing and troubleshooting.
Validate TAP files and charging/billing aspects of roaming services.
Monitor KPIs and performance of roaming services after launch.
Follow-up and define Quality and Performance indicators for the entire roaming service.
Close relationship with external partners like carriers, service providers.
Have successful partnerships with other departments and teams.
****Qualifications**
Degree in Telecom Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience
Knowledge of 3GPP, ETSI, standards and specifications for SIM/eSIM
Knowledge and experience with protocols such as MAP, S6a
Familiar with an RSP architecture and experience operating it
Knowledge in scripting and have basic programming skills.
Experience with protocol analyzer tools like Wireshark, Astelia, and ability to use them to troubleshoot networks errors/problems for the mentioned protocols
Experience with ETSI NFV architecture and solutions
Familiar with MVNO/MVNE/MVNA architecture(s) and landscape
