About the role
- Drive the data analytics strategy and oversee initiatives at Duke University’s School of Medicine. Collaborate with leadership to enhance data infrastructure and support educational and research missions.
Responsibilities
- drive the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide data strategies that support Duke University’s missions in clinical care, research, and education
- gather and analyze data, prepare reports and visualizations to drive business analytics, and assist with the development and maintenance of internal dashboards
- oversee data governance, business intelligence, and analytics initiatives across the School of Medicine and Duke University Health System
- advise executive leadership, foster data-driven decision-making, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance data infrastructure, integration, and innovation
Requirements
- Master’s degree preferred
- CPA is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, computer science, public health, or related technical fields
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, BI, or governance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in full-lifecycle development processes related to data modeling/warehousing, business intelligence, and application development in an academic environment
- Strong analytical background working with relational databases
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience with other querying languages (SAS, Python, R)
- Familiarity with Duke-specific systems and data platforms like SAP, BW, SPS, WebCentral/Archibus, highly desired
- Familiarity with higher education or healthcare data systems.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage strategic projects.
