Responsibilities
Provide specialized, variable frequency drive (VFD) and control engineering expertise, service, and maintenance at site and remotely
Advise clients and Company engineers to resolve on-site issues, as the factory expert for the Company’s VFD products
Provide technical support to clients and other engineers, when not in the field
Perform preventative maintenance on client equipment
Analyze client equipment failures using remote diagnostics tools, performing diagnostic and repair services at client site when necessary
Report to the factory any errors of deficiencies in hardware, software or system design discovered from consultation with clients and Company engineers. Implement corrective actions outlined in Field Change Notices as assigned
Update client relationship management (CRM) tool with appropriate case information to ensure timely and accurate reports
Draft Service Advices and issue to clients and field engineers, as approved
Write and submit field service reports to clients to document work performed in the field
Acquire and maintain current safety qualifications appropriate to the assigned tasks and comply with Company and client safety requirements and good safety practices
Configure equipment to enable suppliers to resolve their product failures in a timely and cost-effective manner
Respond to client issues including after regular business hours on a schedule to be assigned
Investigate suggested field changes, report problems, and recommend solutions to parent company as necessary
Train client personnel on system maintenance procedures and/or system operation
Identify and recommend additional value-add products and services through proactive engagement with clients
Perform commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing of VFD’s to meet design performance criteria, as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
3 years of field engineering experience in power conversion (A/C VFD engineering) experience, with familiarity with power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products
Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 50%, occasionally with limited notice
5 years of technical services, field, or customer support engineering experience in AC and DC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) in an industrial environment
Demonstrated field engineering experience in metals rolling, container crane systems, and/or paper industries
Legacy A/C and DC VFD engineering experience to include AC/DC2000, AV/DC300, Innovation Series, T250
Controls engineering experience in LAN Topology for ISBUS, Profibus, Modbus, EGD, DeviceNet, TC-net, MELPAC, and TOSLINE protocol
Demonstrated experience working with PLCs manufactured by Toshiba, GE, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi Electric
Demonstrated ability to install, inspect, and maintain equipment in accordance with relevant operating/installation instructions
Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, written and verbal, in addition to English, for international client communications
