About the role

  • Lead Supplier Qualification – Manage the new supplier approval process, including quality system audits and capability assessments to ensure robust quality management systems.
  • Technical Collaboration – Conduct drawing and specification reviews with suppliers, clarifying requirements and incorporating feedback to enhance manufacturability.
  • Documentation & Compliance – Define and communicate all additional part requirements (e.g., certificates of compliance, inspection records) and ensure they are properly integrated into the incoming inspection process.
  • First Article Evaluation – Coordinate and review first article inspections, driving root cause analysis and corrective action when nonconformances occur.
  • Incoming Quality Control – Develop and maintain scalable incoming inspection processes (ranging from 100% inspection to skip-lot sampling) based on supplier performance.
  • Defect Troubleshooting – Diagnose PCBA visual or functional defects and coordinate supplier-driven resolutions.
  • Supplier Corrective Actions – Partner with suppliers to investigate and resolve quality issues; validate corrective actions for effectiveness.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting – Implement and maintain supplier quality metrics (PPM, responsiveness, etc.) and present performance scorecards on a regular basis.
  • Supplier Training & Development – Provide training and resources to suppliers to ensure consistent understanding of part requirements, inspection standards, and testing methods.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify trends, analyze data, and drive proactive improvements in supplier quality processes and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years in a Supplier Quality Engineering or related quality role.
  • ISO 9001 Lead or Internal Auditor certification preferred.
  • IPC 610, IPC 620, or IPC 7711/7721 certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with quality tools (Control Plans, PFMEA, Gage R&R, Capability Studies, DOE, Control Charts, 8D).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and statistical analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, Document Control, and Engineering Change Processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
