Engineer and design high- and medium-voltage substations for Dairyland Power Cooperative. Provide technical support, specifications, cost estimates, and code-compliant designs for member cooperatives.
Responsibilities
Responsible, with minimal supervision, for the engineering and design of high voltage and medium voltage substations
Engineering and design of substations including general arrangements, equipment and electrical layout, elevations, cable trench and raceway design, foundation design, bills of materials, and AC and DC power systems
Provide continuing technical support to other internal Dairyland departments and external member cooperatives and municipals
Resolve problems that may impact Dairyland and its member cooperatives and municipals
Prepare and revise material and equipment specifications and work with purchasing and project management to procure materials
Coordinate with Dairyland technical and field personnel to assist in problem solving, construction changes and schedule changes
Create or assist project managers with project scopes, cost estimates and schedules for capital and maintenance projects
Perform engineering calculations such as equipment ratings and bus calculations
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
Level III: 5+ Years of Experience
Level Sr.: 10+ Years of Experience
Experience in the areas of substation physical design, substation protection and control design or structural design
Knowledge of project estimating and engineering economics
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
Requires a high degree of understanding for spatial concepts, mathematics, mechanics and statistics
Good oral and written communication skills
Experience with computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD preferred
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of power systems desirable
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
