About the role
- Design and build the shared Infrastructure Strategy & Roadmap for The Very Group
- Provide thought leadership, guidance and governance across Tech Ops and other Tribes
- Create and maintain architecture governance artefacts (patterns, policies, standards, current state architecture)
- Develop and maintain architectural design documentation and artefacts, including high-level design documents, diagrams, KDDs
- Accountable for end-to-end designs for shared infrastructure solutions ensuring alignment to business and technical requirements
- Recognise, surface and document Key Design Decisions, risks, assumptions and constraints
- Review and approve robust, stable, scalable and manageable designs and maintain component catalogue and reference architectures
- Work with squads, tribes and 3rd party suppliers to deliver technical solutions and ensure build activities follow approved architecture
- Provide technical leadership, mentor and coach team members and manage stakeholder and vendor relationships
- Recommend, deploy and document networking and integration design strategies based on business goals and existing technologies
- Participate in technical governance to ensure best practice, policy and principle adoption
- Continuously develop subject matter expertise and evaluate emerging technologies for business value
Requirements
- Experience of delivering large technology change programmes or projects with multiple stakeholders
- Proven track record of delivery in both iterative and continuous delivery approaches
- Expert level knowledge of security, reliability, scalability, high availability and concurrency architectural patterns
- Expert level solution design experience across the full technology stack, including on-prem, public and hybrid cloud
- Wide ranging knowledge and experience of Legacy Infrastructures (Windows Servers, Active Directory, Windows Users and Devices, Unix/AIX/Solaris)
- Knowledge of middleware technologies (Oracle DB, Websphere, Weblogic, Java)
- Wide ranging knowledge of Cloud Infrastructures including Amazon AWS (EC2, VPC, Security Groups, Direct Connect, S3, RDS, Postgres, MongoDB, Workspaces), Oracle SaaS/PaaS, Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, Intune, Express Route)
- Wide ranging knowledge of networking technologies (Cisco routers, firewalls, load balancers, LAN/WAN/Wireless/DHCP/DNS, MPLS)
- Cloud connectivity experience (Equinix ECX)
- Wide ranging knowledge of security technologies (WAFs, IDP/IPS, NAC, SIEMs such as Splunk, encryption key management, IAM, SSO, MFA, PKI, MDM)
- Experience designing DR/BC solutions for Cloud & Traditional data centres
- Expert level experience building, integrating and migrating service/component-based architectures across modern and legacy platforms
- Practical experience of delivering change in a lean/agile/DevSecOps environment
- Ability to lead collaboration and influence decision making with strong stakeholder and 3rd party management skills
- Computer Science degree or relevant experience (education may be substituted by experience)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra/Entra ID and Microsoft Intune
- Experience with end-user device management (Windows and Mac)
- Willingness to engage with 3rd party suppliers and vendors
- Candidates will be required to undertake credit, CIFAS, Right to Work checks and potentially a DBS check
