About the role
- Senior Systems Engineer leading technical delivery of infrastructure projects focused on on-prem systems at Moneris. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to build strategic infrastructure programs in Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of infrastructure projects focused on on-prem systems including virtualization, operating systems and enterprise platforms
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Linux and Windows virtual machines across on-prem and hybrid environments
- Engineer, install, automate, and configure virtual environments across VMware, Nutanix and Azure using automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of infrastructure solutions—from requirements gathering and design to implementation and operational handoff
- Create and document Infrastructure Service offerings to support internal teams and business units
- Be the single point-of-contact for application owners for infrastructure deployments during the project phase, being the main focal point for coordination and delivery
- Ensure systems are compliant with security standards, resilient to failure, and optimized for performance
- Participate in capacity planning, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in senior systems engineering or infrastructure delivery role as a technical lead
- Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions
- Expert knowledge of Linux (RHEL), virtualization platforms (VMware) and storage technologies
- Hands-on experience with LDAP, DNS, DHCP, scripting and systems hardening
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, patching, and backup solutions
- Familiarity with top cloud platforms such as Azure and hybrid cloud integration
- Proficiency in payment systems and the merchant acquiring business (considered an asset)
