About the role

Responsibilities
- Establishes and documents system information in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
- Collaborates with functional analysts, business process reengineering specialists, software engineers, and systems engineers to align system architecture with organizational goals
- Designs architecture to include software, hardware, and communications to support total requirements, while also ensuring cross-functional integration and future scalability
- Ensures systems are compatible and compliant with open systems architecture standards, including OSI and ISO reference models, IEEE OSE, and other interoperability frameworks
- Provides guidance on integration of GOTS/COTS components and adapts to emerging web-based technologies
- Applies structured analysis and design methodologies such as IDEF1x, entity-relationship diagrams, object-oriented principles, and CASE tools
- Evaluates workflows, organizational processes, and planning challenges; develops and implements corrective actions as needed
- Oversees and mentors' system architects, providing direction on best practices and enterprise-level design approaches
Requirements
- Proven experience supervising system architects and technical teams on complex IT projects
- Expertise in structured analysis, design tools, object-oriented principles, and enterprise-level system integration
- Strong understanding of logical and technical architecture design for large-scale information systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple technical disciplines
- Knowledge of standards and compliance frameworks such as OSI, ISO, and IEEE OSE
- Experience with COTS/GOTS integration and familiarity with emerging web-based technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and correct workflow and organizational inefficiencies
- 10 years of specialized experience in system architecture and enterprise IT design
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent years of experience)
