About the role

  • Perform electrical power system modeling and analysis for renewable facilities including design and modeling support for new and existing wind, solar and BESS power generation sites as well as electrical substation design
  • Creates and develops studies and reports including but not limited to short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic (pre & post), compliance, ampacity, grounding, as well as other related studies and calculations
  • Conduct review and QA/QC for electrical studies in support of design teams
  • Provide regulatory compliance services for project design phases from conceptual design through project testing and commissioning
  • Help establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices for electrical system studies
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for study software related questions and troubleshooting
  • Check and/or perform detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
  • Assist clients depending on current project pipelines
  • Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including proposals cost estimates, and budget reports
  • Assist with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings
  • Perform equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, and relay field testing and start-up and commissioning services
  • Maintain a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards
  • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: FE required, PE is preferred
  • Proficiency in power system modeling software such as: Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil)
  • System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power)
  • Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS)
  • Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF)
  • Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap)
  • Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skill
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
