Responsibilities
Provides oversight on risk assessment for data issues
Evaluates and challenges quality and completeness of resolution plans for data issues drafted by business lines
Develops key data risk metrics and reports to governance councils / committees
Provides leadership on thematic analysis of data issues and drives remediation of identified themes
Reviews data controls periodically for effectiveness and design
Collaborates with business lines on risk management initiatives, audit findings, and special projects
Engages with other teams within data governance community for driving continuous improvement in related governance processes (such as data quality validations, lineage, metadata etc.)
Requirements
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Seven or more years of experience in data governance strategy, planning, and policy
Experience in driving data quality initiatives in banking / related financial services industry
Prior experience managing / governing data issues
Ability to work across multiple business lines and lines of defense to drive adoption of policy requirements
Robust relationship building and negotiation skills
Working knowledge of risk control framework
Thorough knowledge of Data Management / Governance and Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
Experience working in a regulatory environment, i.e. banking or financial markets
Strong sense of ownership, ability to work autonomously, prioritize based on tactical and strategic objectives and escalate as needed
Strong analytical, process facilitation and project management skills
Effective presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Quantitative Analytics background; experience developing data quality thresholds
