About the role

  • Administer and maintain multiple databases within SSMS, ensuring performance, integrity, and security
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain complex stored procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Conduct code reviews and troubleshoot performance issues
  • Manage and maintain linked server connections and troubleshoot connectivity issues
  • Perform data mining from enterprise data warehouses to extract insights and author new stored procedures to support business needs
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization and indexing; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Design and implement ETL processes to integrate data from various sources and ensure data quality and consistency
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database structures, stored procedures, and data flows
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to explain complex technical concepts
  • Position is hybrid and must meet export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Expertise in database management and optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Openshift and Docker
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices
  • Knowledge of database design principles, indexing, and performance tuning
  • Preferred: Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, RDS)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of front-end technologies, particularly JavaScript and REACT
  • Preferred: Strong experience with data pipeline tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Airflow)
  • Preferred: Experience with API development and integration
  • Must meet export control compliance requirements ("U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 — U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
