About the role

  • Lead the planning and design of rail and transit facilities across the Mid-Atlantic
  • Support business development efforts for transit and rail facilities
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil disciplines
  • Manage subconsultants and internal design teams
  • Interpret and apply design standards and building codes
  • Participate in client meetings and public presentations
  • Oversee production from conceptual design through construction documents
  • Conduct and oversee QA/QC reviews of architectural design deliverables

Requirements

  • Registered Architect (RA) or AIA professional membership in DC, Maryland, or Virginia (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • Minimum 15 years of architectural experience, with a strong focus on transit, rail, or transportation infrastructure
  • Proven experience working with agencies such as WMATA, VRE, MDOT MTA, or Amtrak on projects including stations, operations centers, or maintenance facilities
  • Strong knowledge of regional building codes, ADA, NFPA, and relevant WMATA or state agency design criteria
  • Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and mentor project teams in a collaborative environment
