About the role
- Senior Accountant supporting Canadian & U.S. entities with financial reporting and compliance. Key partner in improving processes and enabling better decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, conduct P&L reviews, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and tax regulations.
- Lead the month-end closing process, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and ensure accurate financial records.
- Process semi-monthly payroll, remit payroll taxes, and collaborate with the People & Culture team on payroll updates.
- Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Prepare working papers for audits, manage tax filings, and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Assess internal controls, recommend improvements, and mentor junior accounting staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance.
- Experience with multi-entity operations across various countries is a plus.
- Nice to have: Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor, Sage 50) and advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
