About the role

  • Security Manager responsible for policy and programmatic security support to the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine. Overseeing compliance programs and policy development in a federal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide policy, programmatic, and technical security support to the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery
  • Oversee compliance programs
  • Coordinate interagency policy development
  • Support adjudication processes related to suitability and childcare background checks (CBC)
  • Develop, implement, and manage enterprise security policies, procedures, and compliance programs
  • Provide technical guidance on DoD/OPM suitability adjudication processes
  • Facilitate full criminal history checks on staff
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a database to track all personnel requiring CBCs
  • Draft, review, and revise policies, SOPs, CONOPS, and implementation plans
  • Engage with DoD and federal partners to ensure effective coordination
  • Develop training materials, briefings, and reports to support enterprise-wide security awareness
  • Manage action tracking, partner engagement documentation, and meeting minutes

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Emergency Management, Security Studies, Public Policy, Information Security, or a related discipline
  • In lieu of a degree, 10 years of progressively responsible experience may be substituted
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in security, policy, or program management
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Successful completion of the Federal Coordinating Center (FCC) Course within the last 3 years
  • Completion of the OPM Fundamentals of Suitability and Fitness Adjudicators course
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools
  • Knowledge of DoD childcare background check policies
  • Strong understanding of personnel, information, and industrial security policies in federal or DoD environments
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate interagency efforts, develop policies, and provide action officer-level support
  • Strong database management, reporting, and documentation skills
