Responsibilities
Provides day to day team management and oversight of project execution and service delivery for scientific infrastructure and scientific instrumentation teams
Delegating tasks, providing clear direction, and inspiring collaboration and teamwork
Accountable for the development and delivery of scientific IT services and capabilities, strategic planning, budgeting and customer outreach and engagement
Overseeing personnel management of 2-3 teams and up to 5 direct reports, including staff recruitment, hiring, performance management, training, and mentoring
Ensures service delivery alignment with program and customer strategic goals by developing strategic roadmaps and tracking KPI’s
Facilitate regular discussions and collaborate with internal and external resources to understand needs and challenges and develop new capabilities and solutions to enable and advance effective scientific research
Develop and communicate plans, dependencies, risks and progress for stakeholder support and effective delivery of outcomes
Manage daily operations, tickets, outages and continuous improvement in operational efficiency
Provide and communicate metrics and analysis of the team and systems performance
Work closely with Program Leadership, Federal Leadership, Researchers Enterprise Architecture and PMO to align and coordinate efforts and provide transparency
Requirements
Masters and 10+ years of experience in a Science IT or related discipline
Experience managing and delivering scientific IT services
Experience leading computational science programs and systems
Experience leading and running operations for multidisciplinary teams
Experience with High Performance Computing infrastructure (HPC) and optimization
Experience with scientific research workflows and related tooling including: Sequencing & Omics Analysis, Structural & Molecular Modeling, Imaging & Spatial Analysis, and AI & Data-Driven Modeling
Experience with large scale scientific data lifecycle and storage management
Experience providing IT support for scientific instrumentation installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
