About the role

  • Draft patents related to exciting and challenging technologies
  • Manage worldwide filing programs and corresponding prosecution through to grant
  • Stay updated with manufacturing and supply chain arrangements to tailor patent strategy accordingly
  • Actively engage with technical teams to foster invention capture
  • Monitor R&D activities and cross-check against the company’s patents
  • Continuously review the company’s patent position across all product lines
  • Perform third-party monitoring, competitor analysis, and support due diligence
  • Assess potential conflicts from a patent perspective
  • Guide technical teams regarding third-party IP and innovation hot spots and cold spots
  • Assist with existing patent license arrangements and royalty management
  • Support the development of new licensing opportunities
  • Provide staff training and support regarding technical innovation
  • Work closely and efficiently with the existing IP admin manager
  • Show willingness to broaden horizons through involvement with third-party agreements, trademarks, domain names, trade secrets, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics or relevant engineering (such as mechanical or electrical) or similar (at least 2:1)
  • Completed foundation level patent qualification
  • Finals-level UK and EQE, or recently qualified
