Paralegal supporting Corporate Litigation and Product Development at Travelers. Involves legal research, document drafting, and assistance with structured settlements.
Responsibilities
As a Paralegal for Corporate Litigation and Product Development and Coverage Analysis (“PDCA”), you will join an experienced team that supports two critical legal organizations within Travelers.
Corporate Litigation is charged with handling all non-claim litigation involving the Company. PDCA plays an integral role in insurance coverage form development and modification in order to accurately reflect underwriting intent and compliance with applicable law.
You will assist attorneys in both groups in various aspects of these responsibilities, including file management, legal research, drafting routine documents and collection of information.
You will also assist in responding to third party transfer petitions related to structured settlements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
3+ years’ experience as a paralegal
Experience with Structured Settlement Transfer Petitions
Strong Interpersonal skills to conduct interviews and investigations and communicate with other internal and external counsel and other audiences as needed
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of applicable court/jurisdiction rules and procedures
Ability to be resourceful in research with strong analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Products especially Excel and Word
Proficient in online legal research including Westlaw, LexisNexis and court information resources such as Lex Machina and Trellis
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to manage time and tasks effectively and work independently with minimal oversight
Able to maintain strict confidentiality
Paralegal Certificate from an American Bar Association-Certified program
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a paralegal or related work experience; or i) a Associate/Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA-Certified program and ii) one year of paralegal or related work experience.
