About the role

  • Project-based subject matter expert in all things infrastructure: analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.”
  • Hands-on role focusing on interaction between systems and their environment.
  • Contribute to projects: analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems.
  • Long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution.
  • Involved early to offer solutions, decide feasibility, and identify technical and timeline risks up front.
  • Deal with client expectations and internal challenges; deliver impactful results that lead clients to request the same person by name.
  • Work closely with Architects, Technicians, and PMs and remain deeply involved throughout project lifecycles.
  • Establish policies and procedures for database management, DR, maintenance and utilization; perform IMS/DB2 performance monitoring and automation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in Mainframe IMS System Programming.
  • BMC COPE and IBM tools for IMS and DB2.
  • Hands-on experience with IMS/DB2 performance monitoring and automation.
  • Establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, maintenance and utilization
  • Strong knowledge of IMS/DB2 utilities, backup/recovery processes, and database tuning techniques.
  • Expertise in IMS Full Function, HALDB, Fast Path, DB2 for z/OS, and various IMS/DB2 utilities.
  • Manage IMS database structures (VSAM, OSAM, HALDB, Fast Path, GSAM) (preferred).
  • DB2 storage, locking, and referential integrity (preferred).
  • Disaster recovery planning, log archive management, DBRC utilities, and forward recovery (preferred).
  • Experience with Tools: IBM DB2 V12+, IMS V15, IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (CDC), Query Monitor, SQL Performance Analyzer (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (preferred).
