About the role
- Lead Quality Assurance Engineer developing scalable automation frameworks and mentoring QA engineers at PrePass in Phoenix, Arizona. Collaborating with teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, API, and backend systems supporting functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Define and maintain automation best practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to QA engineers, promoting consistent testing standards and high-quality delivery.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress, and perform API testing using Postman, ReadyAPI, Karate, or Rest Assured.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
- Collaborate with DevOps to enhance test automation efficiency and ensure robust integration across environments.
- Partner with developers, product owners, and managers to proactively identify and resolve defects early in the development cycle.
- Participate in Agile (Scrum) processes, applying TDD and BDD principles to maximize test coverage and quality outcomes.
- Contribute to sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives, providing QA insights and feedback.
- Develop and manage test cases, test data, and defect tracking in tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA-Xray.
- Track and report key QA metrics, including test coverage, defect leakage, and test cycle times.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance QA effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including 5+ years in test automation.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, automation frameworks, and CI/CD practices.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, Appium (for mobile), and Postman/REST Assured/Karate/ReadyAPI.
- Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Familiarity with test frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Pytest, or Mocha.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD environments (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
- Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, or SQLite).
- Experience designing and executing test strategies, reporting defects, verifying fixes, and conducting root cause analysis.
