About the role

Lead Data Analyst analyzing complex datasets, building actionable insights for Octopus Legacy's growth. Collaborate with departments to enhance data-informed decision making and strategy alignment.

Responsibilities

Analyse complex datasets to uncover insights that inform business decisions.
Build reports and dashboards to track key metrics and KPIs.
Translate business questions into clear, actionable data analysis.
Visualise data and tell compelling stories that bring insights to life.
Partner with department heads to identify priorities and provide data-driven recommendations.
Understand stakeholder needs and deliver meaningful, actionable insights.
Help non-technical teams interpret data and apply it in decision-making.
Support leadership in defining and structuring KPIs across the business.
Develop a cohesive KPI tree aligned with company goals.
Maintain and improve existing data pipeline to ensure data quality and reliability.
Integrate new data sources and prepare them for analysis.
Line-manage and mentor a Data Analyst, providing guidance and clear priorities.
Help shape the growth of the data function and define best practices.
Foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Strong curiosity and proactive mindset, with the ability to independently explore data, ask the right questions, identify opportunities, and drive projects forward without requiring constant guidance.
Experience in data analytics and the ability to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
Proficiency with SQL and other data query languages.
Proven ability to work closely with business stakeholders and translate their needs into data-driven solutions.
Experience in developing reports and dashboards to monitor key metrics.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex data in a way that is understandable and actionable for non-technical stakeholders across departments.
Proficiency with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Metabase).
Ability to educate and train stakeholders on data literacy.
Basic skills in maintaining and evolving data pipelines (nice to have).
Basic programming skills in languages such as Python or R for data manipulation (nice to have).
Understanding of statistical methods and their application to business problems (nice to have).
Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment (nice to have).
Management experience (nice to have).
