About the role
- Lead Legal Advisor for Betfair Romania focusing on improving legal frameworks and guiding Hub teams. Collaborating across locations to ensure compliance and support business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Lead Counsels across four Hub locations
- Mentor, coach, and develop the legal teams
- Identify opportunities for synergies and shared learnings across Hub locations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Hub Leadership Teams
- Provide input into Flutter-wide legal frameworks, policies, and governance standards
- Participate in group-level steering committees or cross-functional initiatives
- Provide commercial and strategic legal advice to the Cluj Leadership Team
- Lead on all employment law matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate key commercial contracts
- Oversee all other legal matters in Betfair Romania including litigation, data protection, IP, compliance, and governance
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 10+ years post-qualification experience
- Strong experience preferably with an international element in a technology driven sector, in areas such as commercial contracts, employment law, and litigation
- Proven expertise in commercial contracts, labour law, employment law, and ideally, litigation and corporate governance
- Demonstrated experience leading legal teams across multiple locations or within a matrixed organisation
- Experience advising sizable businesses on complex legal matters in a dynamic environment
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus
- Extensive experience of internal and external stakeholder management
- Experience of leading a team, preferably in a global context
- Skilled at balancing legal risk and commercial priorities
- Cross-cultural competence and experience working across multiple jurisdictions and time zones
