About the role

  • Create and maintain Air Force Civil Engineering GIS data in an enterprise environment, managing a versioned, multi-user geodatabase
  • Create, update, and produce installation, range, and vicinity maps, drawings, plans, and other cartographic representations
  • Perform regular and frequent data updates coordinating with analysts and government personnel at DAF installations
  • Coordinate and execute GIS data requests and submissions to authorized stakeholders and mission partners, including disaster response and emergency mapping support
  • Perform data quality assurance and control to ensure compliance with Air Force and DoD geospatial data standards
  • Create and maintain installation and AF enterprise geospatial metadata
  • Migrate or convert legacy GIS, CAD, non-spatial, and tabular data to GeoBase standards
  • Maintain data for archival storage, record keeping, and inventory of source data and maps
  • Perform complex GIS data analysis, extraction (digitization), and geocoding processes
  • Integrate and utilize geospatial imagery, LiDAR, survey, and field-collected data in the GeoBase enterprise
  • Work closely with end users in installation GeoBase offices and base organizations to support GIS requirements, technical issues, and training
  • Provide end user support and training for GeoBase data stewardship, applications, capabilities, standards, and initiatives
  • Create or update the DAF GeoBase Knowledge Base, documenting workflows, SOPs, and GeoBase program processes
  • Tier III / Senior responsibilities: Manage client projects, project performance, serve as Scrum Leader, mentor analysts, coordinate project leadership, architect and design enterprise solutions, and create/maintain enterprise GIS tools and geoprocessing services
  • Report directly to GeoBase Team Leaders

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Tier 1 Investigation (National Agency Check and Inquiries NACI), security clearance, or the ability to pass a Tier 1 Investigation
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Junior Geospatial Specialist: Two (2) years of geospatial experience
  • Senior Geospatial Specialist: Four (4) years of geospatial experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Esri ArcGIS software and capabilities
  • Junior: Two (2) years using ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) or ArcGIS Pro and Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online (AGOL)
  • Senior: Four (4) years of above ArcGIS experience
  • Experience in roles requiring problem-solving, consulting, customer service, Microsoft Office proficiency, and strong written/verbal communication
  • Attention to detail, data quality assurance, organizational, time management, and analytical skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Enterprise GIS management: Two (2) years with enterprise GIS databases conducting QA/QC in multi-editor environments
  • Two (2) years with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) or other spatial data model
  • Project management: Two (2) years managing projects and two (2) years with project management methodology (preferably Agile, Atlassian)
  • Advanced solutions design: Two (2) years using ArcGIS Experience Builder, ModelBuilder, or Web AppBuilder
  • Two (2) years using Python, preferably the ArcGIS API for Python and ArcPy library
  • Preferred: Experience with the DAF GeoBase program; ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, or ArcGIS Enterprise; ArcGIS Pro Attribute Rules or ArcGIS Data Reviewer; database management (Oracle/SQL); Real Property reconciliation; Agile (Jira, Confluence); Service Desk/ticketing systems; imagery and lidar processing; Autodesk/CAD; GPS, surveying, or field data collection; DoD geospatial data and systems.
