About the role
- You will develop API’s aligned with the firms strategic objectives for data distribution
- Guide a team of API Engineers through project planning, prioritization and agile development practices
- Ensure API’s are well documented, versioned, monitored and maintained with clear SLA’s and support processes
- Applies understanding of the industry and how own area contributes to the achievement of objectives
- Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems
- Management responsibilities include performance appraisals, pay reviews, training and development
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
- Provides technical guidance to employees and colleagues
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies
Requirements
- 5+ years experience working in software engineering
- 3+ years experience in a managerial role. Preferably as an API Engineering Manager
- Hands-on experience designing, building large-scale API’s
- Strong experience in design principles
- You should have SQL, REST API design patterns and messaging design patterns
- Java, Spring, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Snowflake and MQ is preferred
- Familiarity with API Gateway technologies is preferred
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Problem Solving experience
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
