About the role
- Engineering Intern assisting Xcel Energy's Grid Transformation Organization with advanced grid applications deployment and monitoring. Collaborating with engineers and developing tools for operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Support other engineers within the teams on advanced grid apps (e.g., IVVO, FLISR, Distributed Intelligence) deployment
- Monitor operational efficiencies and support enhancements of the advanced grid apps
- Develop settings and/or settings repository for grid edge assets (e.g., Capacitor banks, recloser controllers)
- Help develop job aids to increase team efficiency
- Develop dashboard or update databases for monitoring automated field devices
Requirements
- Current student, Junior status (as of Fall 2026) or higher.
- Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.
- Able to commute to the service center in Denver, CO or St. Paul, MN.
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)
