About the role
- Engineer providing civil and structural design for highways and rail projects in the UK. Supporting multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-profile infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivering a variety of civil and structural design packages and projects for new highway schemes
- Management of both individual design packages and entire projects
- Supporting project resourcing and financial control to ensure schemes are delivered profitably, to programme and in accordance with quality assurance systems
- Familiar with working on projects at varying stages of development from feasibility to detailed design
Requirements
- BEng / MEng or MSc degree in civil engineering or equivalent
- Approaching or recently obtained Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE
- Experience of working with key clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, Local Authorities and/or major Contractors
- Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. DRMB, TSRGD, MCHW, Eurocodes and those of National Highways and Manual for Streets)
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance, and assessment
- Ability to undertake technical work independently
- Experience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages, such as LUSAS, MIDAS, SuperStress and/or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
- Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types
- Ability to support bids and tenders
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
