About the role

  • Own the strategic vision and execution of data visualization initiatives across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science & Digital Health (DSDH)
  • Coordinate visual analytics and design across multiple products / workstreams
  • Guide a team dedicated to translating complex data into accessible, insightful, and engaging visual products
  • Champion a data-driven culture and elevate how insights inform decision-making at all levels of the organization
  • Design and execute on a roadmap for data visualization within the R&D space
  • Lead, mentor, and enable members of the team, promoting best practices and technical perfection
  • Partner with senior leadership, data science, and business units to understand sophisticated needs and translate them into scalable visualization solutions
  • Establish and maintain standards for UX/UI design and data storytelling to ensure consistency, quality, and usability
  • Lead all aspects of prioritization and delivery of multiple projects, balancing pivotal initiatives with operational needs
  • Stay informed of emerging visualization technologies and the intersection of visualization and AI

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in BI, IT, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, data visualization, or related fields
  • 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience developing teams of visualization experts and/or data scientists
  • Understanding and experience in graph modeling and taxonomy
  • Experience in biomedical visualization (e.g. pathways)
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Experience working in both Python and R
  • Good understanding of database structures and query languages including SQL, SPARQL and/or Cypher required
  • Experience with visualization frameworks such as Neo4j Bloom, Gephi, Cytoscape, Graphistry and D3 preferred
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, partner management, and project delivery
  • Superb communication, interpersonal, and change-management skills
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles, experience with GenAI and experience with HTML, CSS is a plus
  • Industry experience in pharmaceuticals or healthcare analytics is preferred.
