About the role

  • Provide SQL Server administration, design, and development support in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborate with Application Development teams to ensure our database platforms are resilient, performant, and continuously improving
  • Perform system and application monitoring and alerting related to the SQL Server environment
  • Work with Application Engineering teams to maintain stored procedures, indexes, and database access interfaces
  • Automate systems management tasks
  • Conduct performance analysis and tuning, especially in .NET/MS SQL environments
  • Operationalize new technologies introduced into the environment
  • Collaborate with Business Product Owners to identify priorities for application development and enhancements
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call response rotation
  • Demonstrate creative thinking, advanced problem-solving, and troubleshooting
  • Administer MS SQL Server (2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2022)
  • Implement high availability solutions (Mirroring, Replication, Clustering, Always On)
  • Manage database security, users, and roles
  • Monitor and analyze SQL query performance
  • Provide expertise in writing efficient and effective queries
  • Review data scripts and provide feedback
  • Implement data recovery techniques from backup/restore
  • Monitor real-time transaction processing and identify issues
  • Set up and manage clustered databases and replication techniques
  • Guide Application Engineering teams in SQL development
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and incident response
  • Enhance observability with metrics and dashboards
  • Lead incident response and maintain documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers to build reliable systems
  • Mentor team members and contribute to postmortems
  • Use AI tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in DBA, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with data platforms, ETL pipelines, and distributed systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, and similar languages
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred Skills: 5+ years’ experience in query optimization and performance tuning
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, SSIS, SSAS, or PowerShell
  • Permissions/User Management experience
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of technical projects
