About the role
- Lead end-to-end data projects, from requirements to delivery
- Gather technical and business requirements alongside cross-functional internal engineering teams
- Discover and explore datasets suitable for project requirements
- Design and develop impactful and actionable metrics and KPIs
- Collaborate with engineers on data acquisition and modeling
- Perform data validation and quality checks
- Develop dashboards, embedded product visualizations and comprehensive reporting
- Optimize queries for performance
- Clearly present insights and recommendations based on quantitative research
- Independently manage, prioritize, and deliver project milestones to ensure on-time completion
- Cultivate client relationships and promote collaboration
- Participate in roadmap development to grow the maturity of the data domain within the company
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or other quantitative field
- 8+ years of experience where the primary responsibility involves working with data (data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar)
- 8+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, PHP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in designing and developing business and product KPIs
- Proficiency in applying descriptive statistics in metrics
- Proficiency with data exploration, manipulation and transformation tools and libraries (Jupyter, Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib)
- Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI
- Familiarity with project management tools and agile/scrum development methodology and rituals (Jira, Sprint)
- Hybrid role - able to work onsite 3 days per week in Fremont, CA
- Preferred: Familiarity with version control systems (git, mercurial, etc.)
- Preferred: Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
- Preferred: Domain knowledge of data infrastructure, cloud computing, security, product, operations
- Preferred: Previous roles in consulting or Managed Services
