About the role
- Undertake individual counselling with students, in-person and remotely.
- Provide short-term confidential counselling to matriculated University of Edinburgh students.
- Practice brief therapy and deliver therapy online and by telephone.
- Assess risk and apply knowledge of adolescent development.
- Work as part of a large multi-disciplinary Student Counselling Service team.
- Work semester time (September to May) on a part-time sessional guaranteed-hours basis (21 hours/week, 3 days/week).
- Attend campus at least two days per week and collaborate with colleagues.
- Maintain professional standards in line with BACP accreditation.
Requirements
- A professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy with relevant post-qualifying experience.
- Counsellor/psychotherapist accreditation with BACP (or other PSA registered body) or working towards accreditation.
- Skilled in practicing brief therapy and in delivering therapy remotely (online and by telephone).
- Knowledge of adolescent development and risk assessment.
- A clear understanding of how the organisational context impacts on therapeutic decisions.
- Experience of working with students in a higher education setting (desirable).
- Must evidence right to work in the UK; University cannot sponsor Skilled Worker visa.
- Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check required.
- Availability to work semester time (September to May), 21 hours per week (3 days per week), at least 2 days on campus.
