About the role
- Demonstrate expertise in development and modification of computer-based scientific, technical, and business software systems
- Provide software development and maintenance support utilizing COBOL, CICS, JCL, ISPF, REXX, CLIST, CA-Librarian, and TSO
- Review and evaluate code for validity, compliance, and compatibility
- Identify and correct problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback
- Work in areas such as equipment/software design, engineering evaluation or test, configuration management, statistical analysis and modeling
- Work with users to define system scope and objectives
- Provide analytical support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation
- Plan and schedule new applications systems projects including objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements
- Perform tasks to identify and document hazards within software systems and review adherence to directives, standards, guidelines concerning software and systems safety
- Confirm design mitigations are captured and verify implementation
- May perform as a project lead directing and monitoring assigned developers/analysts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training
- 5+ years of experience in software development and/or related field
- Strong working knowledge of COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, Rexx, ISPF, VSAM
- Experience with IDCAMS and CA-Librarian
- Familiarity with C+, Java, SQL, Ajax, HTML, and Unix Systems Services
- Experience utilizing Agile methodology
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem solving, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance
- Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years
- Must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years
