About the role

  • Design fixtures for use in assembly, metrology, and manufacturing to support new and existing products.
  • Model and create engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Machine new fixtures and modify existing fixtures using manual equipment including, but not limited to milling machines, lathes, saws, and 3-D printers.
  • Machine, modify, and 3-D print existing parts for use in production.
  • Troubleshoot and provide general support/analysis for assembly, metrology, R&D, and manufacturing issues.
  • Includes ECR/ECO and Defects/Quality issues.
  • Optimize and improve processes for manufacturing/assembly.
  • Create documentation such as assembly build procedures and in-process inspection.
  • Upload documents to the company Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Order and organize tooling, material, and other supplies for shop use.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program from an accredited college or university, majoring in mechanical engineering or another related field.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, and surface grinding.
  • Machine tool experience — CNC or manual machining.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
  • Curiosity, creativity, problem solving skills — this is an opportunity to be learning new things every day.
