About the role
- Design fixtures for use in assembly, metrology, and manufacturing to support new and existing products.
- Model and create engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
- Machine new fixtures and modify existing fixtures using manual equipment including, but not limited to milling machines, lathes, saws, and 3-D printers.
- Machine, modify, and 3-D print existing parts for use in production.
- Troubleshoot and provide general support/analysis for assembly, metrology, R&D, and manufacturing issues.
- Includes ECR/ECO and Defects/Quality issues.
- Optimize and improve processes for manufacturing/assembly.
- Create documentation such as assembly build procedures and in-process inspection.
- Upload documents to the company Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
- Order and organize tooling, material, and other supplies for shop use.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program from an accredited college or university, majoring in mechanical engineering or another related field.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, and surface grinding.
- Machine tool experience — CNC or manual machining.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Curiosity, creativity, problem solving skills — this is an opportunity to be learning new things every day.
