About the role
- Completion of the daily Fund Accounting validation checklist.
- Assisting with changing validation tools to become more efficient and intuitive, including General Ledger and day-over-day validations.
- Assisting the team in changing the current reporting process with automated PowerBI dashboards for increased efficiency.
- Support various Investment Finance projects and finish tasks independently.
- Use exceptional communication skills and attention to detail to carry out and improve accounting processes.
- Contribute to the integrity of accounting and NAV data within AIMCo’s system.
Requirements
- Completion of second or third-year undergraduate studies in Accounting or Finance.
- Enrolled in a formal work experience program with remaining work terms available.
- Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong financial accounting skills.
- Experience using data query/visualization tools such as SQL and Power BI is an asset.
- Exposure to automated reporting is an asset.
- Effective analytical, organization, and time management skills in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration.
- Good understanding of, and ability to apply, investment accounting rules and guidelines including Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants handbook (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Board (PASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Financial Administration Act is an asset.
- Willingness to relocate to Alberta (position open to candidates willing to relocate).
- Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening, which includes a credit bureau and a criminal record investigation.
