About the role
- Big Data QA Lead overseeing Test Implementation and Automation for RBC. Collaborating with diverse teams to enhance quality engineering practices on a Big Data Platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the overall quality engineering strategy, focusing on functional testing and automation across the Big Data ecosystem
- Drive strategic QE initiatives and implement automation standards and processes
- Build and manage a high-performing, diverse QE team
- Maximize automation coverage for all functional testing deliverables
- Develop and align processes and tools with the broader QE strategy and framework
- Provide clear, detailed quality status updates to project teams and stakeholders
- Own the success of assigned programs, including test implementation, environment management, and test data management
- Collaborate with Application Development Directors to embed quality engineering practices within DevOps pipelines
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years in people management
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools (Robot Framework)
- Proficiency in scripting (Unix, Python, SQL, Spark)
- Experience with Big Data technologies and data-related testing (ingestion, lineage, quality, transformation)
- Familiarity with SDLC, QE, and DevOps tools (JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, UrbanCodeDeploy, qTest)
- Strong communication, automation vision, and leadership skills
- Nice-to-have: Finance and risk domain knowledge
- Nice-to-have: Experience in code reviews and test automation script reviews
- Nice-to-have: Cloud certifications and exposure to solutions like AWS, ElasticSearch, Kafka, SNS
- Nice-to-have: ISTQB certification
