About the role

  • Function as a Group Manager for a small but growing municipal design engineering group and as Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager on civil infrastructure projects with focus on detailed design for municipal infrastructure and municipal transportation facilities
  • Prepare designs and contract specifications for a wide variety of projects
  • Manage staff productivity, performance, billability and utilization
  • Mentor staff and projects budgets and teams
  • Supervise staff daily activities and participate directly in the completion of projects
  • Foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focus
  • Support design changes during construction and work directly with construction staff
  • Lead and direct business development activities primarily in the Waterloo Region area including preparation of proposals and statement of qualifications
  • Participate in and/or lead project coordination between other design disciplines, management of project schedule and budget
  • Client liaison and business development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 15+ years of Civil Engineering experience in the consulting services industry including roles with management and business development responsibilities
  • P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) is required
  • Experience with all aspects of preliminary and detailed design of linear infrastructure and municipal roadways
  • Familiarity with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process an asset
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads and Civil3D an asset
  • Familiarity with Southern Ontario and Waterloo Region area market conditions, and more specifically the public and private sector client base in and around the Waterloo Region area
  • Ability and desire to work independently as well as in groups with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, project teams, and clients
  • Excellent technical understanding and strong verbal and written communication skills are expected
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed in an established teamwork environment
  • Keen analytical and decision-making skills, with commitment to excellence and high-quality work
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, remote communications tools, collaboration tools and applications including SharePoint and the full suite of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft 365
