About the role

  • Director of Income Tax managing Ertragsteuern and Transaktionssteuern for ZF in Germany. Leading tax strategy implementation and supporting M&A transactions, collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the German tax function covering income taxes and transaction taxes.
  • Ensure preparation and submission of income tax returns for all German group entities.
  • Support tax structuring and provide advice for M&A transactions, reorganizations and financing structures.
  • Ensure Tax Reporting / Tax Accounting (IFRS / HGB) for the German entities in the course of interim/annual financial statements and monthly reporting.
  • Support the further development of the Tax Compliance Management System (Tax CMS).
  • Manage and support ongoing tax audits for the German group entities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the operational business and other corporate departments on German tax matters, and collaborate closely with auditors, tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Monitor tax policy developments and actively contribute to tax policy and industry association activities.

Requirements

  • University degree in economics, business administration or law, or equivalent training in tax administration (e.g., Dipl.-Finanzwirt).
  • Qualified as a German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in a leadership role at an industrial company, a tax advisory firm or within tax administration.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international tax law, as well as tax accounting (IFRS / HGB).
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial and analytical thinking, with strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and team skills, and the ability to explain complex issues and technical questions in a clear, cross-departmental manner.
  • Business-fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Regular presence at our headquarters in Friedrichshafen is required even if the working location is Munich.
