About the role

  • Financial Analyst assisting in financial reporting, budget development, and variance analysis at Xcel Energy. Requires bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with minimum 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development, tracking, reporting and analysis of financial information, including financial reporting, budget and forecast creation, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing financial data in order to perform some or all of the following processes: budget development, variance reporting for supported areas, preparing internal and external reports, and identifying data issues.
  • Analyze financial data to identify adverse trends and recommend solutions to mitigate financial impact.
  • Applies knowledge of financial rules and concepts and company policies and procedures to resolve commonly occurring issues.
  • Assist with financial analysis and support to the team for the annual budget process, as well as support for current year and five year forecasting.
  • Provide timely and accurate assistance to clients within supported business area, including but not limited to interpretation of account codes or financial reports, providing project status reports, and work order resolution.
  • Participate in or support special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Completion of finance or accounting internship preferred.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis, problem solving, customer service, and relationship building desired.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in general financial accounting or analysis for Financial Analyst II.
