About the role

  • Senior Accountant/Analyst specializing in gift, endowment, and investment accounting at Washington University. Responsible for accounting, analysis, and reporting related to gifts received by the University.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Financial Accounting department with a focus area specializing in gift, endowment, and investment accounting
  • Accounting, reporting, and analysis on gift related activities
  • Managing pledge accounting related activities and reporting
  • Reconciling the financial accounting system to the gift subsystem; identifying and correcting errors
  • Balancing, monitoring, and reconciling various gift-related general ledger accounts
  • Analysis and reporting on related data including periodic variance analyses
  • Serve as the primary contact for the external auditors on gift-related questions
  • Manage the backend process of accounting for gifts received by the University
  • Research and resolve gift related issues while ensuring proper treatment of funds / compliance for accounting, legal and stewardship purposes
  • Develops or/or enhances documentation and processes; identifies and implements efficiencies
  • Handles special requests and projects involving complex accounting transactions and concepts across financial systems
  • Learn/stay engaged in utilizing advances in financial systems and technology to ensure effective and efficient delivery of information

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
  • Accounting (3 Years)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred)
  • M.B.A. - Master of Business Administration (preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration (preferred)
